film synopsis

Eking out an existence in central Guanajuato, young mother Alejandra (Ruth Ramos) trudges through life alongside her brutish homophobe husband Angel (Jesús Meza), who's carrying on an affair with Alejandra's sensitive, openly gay brother Fabian (Edén Villavicencio).

Enter the beautiful, mysterious Veronica (Simone Bucio), who separately inducts both brother and sister to an addictive otherworldly secret: an alien life-form hiding away in a remote cottage, which stokes, thrives and feeds on sexual appetites.

Marrying his trademark hard-hitting realism with provocative ideas about the effects of macho culture on the darkest recesses of human sexuality, acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Amat Escalante (Heli) has created a daring, original and erotically charged sci-fi, a movie you will not soon forget.

"Goes right off the usual art-cinema map, crossing into the realms of science fiction, horror and (in a queasy way) the erotic... This unarguably disturbing and compelling cinematic UFO has cult potential... A ferociously individual, highly intelligent piece." Jonathan Romney, Screen
