Producer/writer/director/star Nick Cannon’s thoroughly entertaining bump-n-grind saga has him playing a New York ex-con intoxicated by the vibrant dancehall scene in Kingston, Jamaica, and pursuing the affections of a local beauty (Patterson) with moves to spare… “Hysterical, feverish, incredibly watchable.” Variety

film synopsis

Rapper, comedian, television host, record producer... and now screenwriter, director and lead actor-Nick Cannon is as energetic and talented as the great cast he has assembled for this thoroughly entertaining fish-out-of-water tale. He plays New York ex-con Tarzan, who travels to Jamaica to hook up with a cousin and start a minor-league drug-smuggling operation. Once in Kingston, however, he is sidetracked-and captivated-by a rather conservative local beauty, Maya (Kimberly Patterson, stunning), whose exuberance on the dance floor makes Tarzan determined to measure up and perhaps gain her affections. But first he has to learn the moves... Cannon anchors the many subplots that attach themselves to the main storyline in a Kingston scene that positively vibrates with spirit and passion, making for a very pleasurable ride.

"Shaking, gyrating, flexing and flouncing... are front and center in Cannon's giddy Saturday Night Fever-goes-to-Kingston tale... The nightlife scenes are euphoric and sensual [and] when [the film] settles into a groove there is a terrific sense of place." Jordan Hoffman, The Guardian
