• Everybody Loves Somebody

    Directed by Catalina Aguilar Mastretta
Mexico | 90 minutes | World Premiere | World Cinema Now

Living a picture-perfect life while in the fog of heartbreak, successful Mexican-American obstetrician Clara is on the verge of letting love back into her life just as her ex, Daniel, unexpectedly reappears, forcing a major life reappraisal in this funny and bittersweet bilingual romantic comedy.

film synopsis

Dividing her time between a successful career as an obstetrician in Los Angeles and her family back in Baja California, beautiful and driven Clara (Karla Souza, The Noble Family) seems to have everything... except the love of Daniel (José María Yazpik), the handsome Doctors Without Borders surgeon who inexplicably walked out of her life a decade ago. With her battered heart slowly on the mend and a new relationship taking shape with sincere pediatrician Asher (Ben O'Toole), Clara's world is once again turned inside out when Daniel reappears. It seems the chemistry is still there too, forcing her into the kind of life-changing decision she's wholly unprepared for, in this fresh and vibrant bi-national spin on the classic romantic comedy.

Full of surprises and centered by a breakout performance by Karla Souza, Everybody Loves Somebody suggests that finding love should never be simple, but keeping it should always be easy.
