Who knew that the Lindy Hop, the Jitterbug, the Shag and other 1920s/'30s/'40s dances that fall under the rubric of "swing" are not just alive and kicking but also thriving in this Internet age? Director Susan Glatzer proves that point in this marvelously entertaining and thoroughly kinetic documentary by attributing the revival to the advent of VHS tape-would-be aficionados could pause and rewind to memorize the steps from old films-and honing in on both past masters (some in their 90s) and the young idealists who spread the gospel of swing. You will have to resist the urge to grab a partner and jump into the aisle, but tapping your toes is encouraged...
