Writer/director/actor Tzahi Grad crafts a plum role for himself in this dark comedy set against the political and class divides of modern day Israel. Grad plays Naftali, a popular filmmaker, whose family lives in a village in the center of Israel. When Naftali needs some renovations completed he looks for an experienced Palestinian handyman, figuring not only will the guy be cheaper, but the hire will satisfy Naftali’s left-wing principles. Although Naftali’s gardener recommends Said, Naftali ends up with the 20-something Fahed, who claims to be Said’s brother and equally experienced. While the first claim may be true, the latter is not, and the repairs do not proceed as planned.

Grad says, “The dispute of our region has never been shown this way before, and at the same time, it’s a very real angle that can be understood by everyone, in every place.” The film’s provocative examination of inherent prejudice and racism have led critics to compare it to Jordan Peele’s Get Out.
