It’s nighttime in Iran and Dr. Nariman, a respected and established forensic pathologist, is driving home from work. At the same time Moosa, his wife, their infant daughter and 8-year-old son are headed home on a motorcycle. In a moment of sheer misfortune, Dr. Nariman’s car is forced to veer, causing Moosa to lose control. Though the family is mostly unharmed, the seemingly minor collision will tragically alter everyone’s lives and Dr. Nariman’s life will become irretrievably tied up with Moosa’s.
No Date, No Signature is an exploration of obsession and responsibility, a film that asks the viewer to consider a predicament that has no clear or favorable answers. Iranian director Vahid Jalilvand brings a grounded complexity to his story, drawing out strong performances from his leads, Amir Agha’ee (Dr. Nariman) and Navid Mohammadzadeh (Moosa), who took home Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival.
