film synopsis

“This film dramatizes an explosive real life scandal: the physical and sexual abuse of young boys by Catholic Brothers in a Canadian orphanage. It courageously tells its story without an ounce of exploitation, a hint of homophobia, or a false step in balancing the feelings of horror and outrage provoked by the story. Well-known Toronto stage actor Henry Czerny brilliantly leads a perfect cast, including many exceptional young actors. Director John N. Smith, an award winning staff director for the National Film Board of Canada, has made a work of art that has been prevented by court action from being seen in the provinces of Toronto and Quebec.” -PSIFF 1994
