director biography

Los Angeles-based filmmaker,  Sophie Kargman graduated from Harvard University, where she majored in English and Psychology.

In her work she aims to tell strong character-driven stories about people who are flawed and thus real.

As a writer, Sophie sold a true-crime series to eOne Entertainment. Currently, she's developing a darkly comedic drama series with Akiva Goldsman's Weed Road Pictures (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, I Am Legend).

As a director, Sophie debuted with the award-winning "Susie Searches", a proof-of-concept short for her feature of the same name, which was just green-lit by 141 Entertainment (Ingrid Goes West), and is scheduled to shoot late summer/early fall 2020. Her second short, "Query", starring Justice Smith, Graham Patrick Martin and Armie Hammer had its World Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival 2020, where it was nominated for best narrative short. After its festival run, "Query" will move to TV. It's already been acquired by HBO Europe and Movistar+ (Telefonica).
