director biography

Yuan Yuan was born and raised in China. She is currently an Ang Lee Scholar at New York University as an MFA candidate in writing and directing. After graduating from Shanghai Theatre Academy with a BA in directing, she began working in script development for Oscar-winning producer Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Lust, Caution). In 2017, Yuan applied grad school to follow her dream in storytelling. Her last short EXCHANGE was selected by Palm Springs ShortFests, and won ‘Best Real Image’ in Fantasy Film Festival. In 2019, she won the Grand Prize of DGA Student Film Award in Asian American category.
