KELLY PIKE Writer/ Director Kelly Pike is a writer/director hailing from Houston, TX, and a recipient of the DGA (Director’s Guild of America) Award of Outstanding Directorial Achievement. With an established artistic practice grounded in Sculpture, she first expanded into filmmaking by working with documentarian Albert Maysles, then went on to earn an M.F.A. from the UCLA Film Production program. Her first film, OWEN, screened at the Cannes Film Festival where it was awarded Best Student Film Award in the Emerging Filmmakers Showcase, took home Best Short Film from the Bahamas International Film Festival and Best Texas Film from the USA Film Festival. It was selected as a VIMEO STAFF PICK and had its television premiere on PBS as part of Film School Shorts: Season 6. She went on to direct James Franco and Marianna Palka in an adaptation of Faulkner’s tale, A ROSE FOR EMILY, which has been included in the anthology film, MISSISSIPPI REQUIEM. Her work has been supported by organizations such as Creative Capital, The City of Houston, The Caucus Foundation, NATO (National Association of Theater Owners), and the Sony Streisand Foundation. Concurrent to her own productions, she was also one of the Co-Founders of the subscription-based video art periodical, BUFFET DVD and has worked as a Guest Curator micro-cinemas such as The Aurora Picture Show in Houston, TX.
