director biography

Olivier Strauss is a 33-year-old filmmaker, screenwriter and editor. His short movies explore hybrid and disturbing territories, populated by bizarre characters, where both science-fiction and poetry thrive on naturalism before expressing its distortions. His first short, Dirty South, premiered in several international festivals and won several prizes including Best First Film at Clermont-Ferrand in 2017, where he also showed the self-produced documentary essay Reply to the Fog, co-directed with François Hébert. Reply to the Fog was then shown at the International Independent Film Festival of Bordeaux (FIFIB) and screened in the exhibition Le vent se lève in Villa Medici, the French academy in Roma. His last short, The Nights Alone, produced by Dharamsala (recently, producer of Proxima by Alice Winocour) was bought by European TV channel ARTE and premiered in the Official Selection of Palm Springs ShortFest 2020.This year, Olivier Strauss co-wrote Jacky, Lucas Delangle's first feature film, and he is currently achieving his first feature script Night Child.
