film synopsis

Filmmaker Tadashi Nakamura sets off on a daunting task: to make a documentary about the “godfather of Asian American cinema,” who also happens to be his father. But the clock is ticking. His father, Robert Nakamura, who had for decades been the pioneering chronicler of Japanese American incarceration and the Asian American political movement, has Parkinson's Disease. Over the course of what will likely be Robert’s final years, Tad and his dad talk movies, mental health, family, and the heavy, profound weight of legacy.
