Film Festival 2026
film synopsis
Fair-weather father and film director Gustav Borg (Stellan Skarsgård) re-enters his adult daughters’ lives when their mother dies, and offers Nora (Renate Reinsve) a role in his next film. When Nora rejects him, he turns to a Hollywood actress (Elle Fanning) to fill the role in his deeply autobiographical work, one that carries the weight of the family’s inherited trauma, exacerbating the already tense family dynamic. With gentle pathos and surprisingly biting wit, the latest from Oscar®-nominated filmmaker Joachim Trier (The Worst Person in the World, PSIFF 2022) tackles the roles we play in the fabric of family, and what it takes to repair the past.
