film synopsis

With her two daughters in tow, single mom Shu-fen sets up a noodle stand in a busy Taipei night market. Her five-year-old is especially enamored by the nightlife, while her 20-year-old plays footsie (and more) with her boss at a betel nut stand. All three have much to prove against a society hell-bent on punishing women who work, lust, and even are left-handed. In her solo directorial debut, Shih-Ching Tsou reteams with long-time collaborator, co-writer Sean Baker (The Florida Project, Anora), on this stylish comedy-drama about sisters and mothers who refuse to back down.
