film synopsis
Fei (Kai Ko) is a gay prostitute hustling in the city, who sends the money he earns back to his family in the countryside. Since they willingly accept his offerings, Fei is caught off guard when he returns home and is met with hostility and grave disapproval of his lifestyle. While there, Fei also faces repressed guilt over a betrayal involving his fellow hustler and former lover Xiaolai (J.C. Lin). But when he reunites with Long (Yufan Bai), a young acquaintance looking to get into the business, it could mark the rise of a new beginning for Fei. Writer-director C.B. Yi’s compassionate, elegantly filmed debut feature finds catharsis in Fei’s intimate journey of self-discovery, and depicts a romance that dares to be burdened by familial and cultural expectations and the hardship of surviving in the modern world.
