Thirty, broke and boundless with romantic energy, Anaïs (Anaïs Demoustier) hurtles through life and lovers with abandon. After moving on from her exasperated boyfriend, she sparks an affair with Daniel (Denis Podalydés), a much older – and much less attentive – book publisher. When that inevitably fizzles out, she has a chance encounter with Daniel’s longtime partner Emilie (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi), a brilliant novelist. Smitten, the ever opportunistic Anaïs crashes a weekend writers’ retreat where Emilie is attending. As an attraction between the two women gradually becomes mutual, fate reveals itself to have other plans. Writer-director Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet’s debut feature is a steamy, sunny romance that offers a delightfully different kind of spin on quarter-life plight. As Anaïs, Demoustier is on fire in every scene, giving a mesmerizing and restless lead performance that always charms even as her tornado of a character threatens to leave a trail of debris in her wake.
