In this 2007 neo-Western thriller, violence and mayhem ensue after a hunter stumbles upon a drug deal gone wrong (and more than two million dollars in cash) near the Rio Grande. Based on the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name, No Country for Old Men won four Academy Awards and was listed as a movie of the year by the American Film Institute

This series, in partnership with UCR Palm Desert, focuses on Academy Award-winning book-to-film selections. Viewers are encouraged to read the books prior to each screening.There will be a brief review and talk before the screening, followed by a discussion facilitated by Tod Goldberg, director of the UCR Palm Desert MFA program, cultural critic, and author of more than a dozen books.Registration is free, but seating is limited.
