director biography
Akira Kamiki is a Brazilian director born and raised in Sao Paulo. In 2013 graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Photography, with a focus on filmmaking. Graduated in Film Directing in 2017 and is currently studying a Screenwriting MA at Goldsmith, University of London. An activist of the Brazilian LGBT+ community, Akira has so far written and directed three Queer short films. The debut film, “Afterglow”, was accepted into more than 40 film festivals, including the 36th Vancouver International, and has won five awards. “Top 10 Places to Visit in Sao Paulo” screened at the ‘42 Frameline Film Festival’, the oldest and largest LGBTQ film exhibition event in the world, and was also part of the ‘28th Inside Out Toronto’.
