film synopsis
When Selma (Golshifteh Farhani) decides to return home to Tunisia after years in France, she is far from realizing all the roadblocks she will encounter, making the beginning of this new chapter quite hectic. Yet Selma puts out one fire after the next with boldness and aplomb, determined to relocate her psychotherapy practice to a country where mental health is still taboo. Perhaps best known for her dramatic performances, Farhani surprises in a more comedic role, bringing energy, vitality and wit. Drawing the perfect parallel between a country trying to redefine itself after a revolution and a woman seeking a fresh start, writer/director Manele Labidi's debut feature delivers a fun and humorous take on the difficulties of starting over while capturing Tunisia in an honest yet lighthearted way.
