Welcome Filmmakers!

Welcome Filmmakers and hello from sunny Palm Springs!

The team at ShortFest is overjoyed to be sharing our 24th anniversary with all of you! Our festival is designed with filmmakers in mind. This is your event and we hope you will make the best out of this opportunity. In the end, it is our wish that you'll remember ShortFest as one of the best festivals you've been to.  Yes, our primary goal is to help you promote your film, grow your networks and all that good stuff ... but who's to say you can't have some fun along the way!? With that in mind, we have put together some information that will help you plan your trip and navigate the festival.

ShortFest Filmmakers
We have two types of filmmakers attending ShortFest and both are essential to the success of ShortFest: (1) Official Selection and (2) Market Filmmakers

The Official Selection is the group of 330+ films selected for presentation from the thousands of submissions.

If you have not made Official Selection, ShortFest would still like you to attend as a Market Filmmaker. As a Market Filmmaker, you will have access to the Film Market, the Filmmaker Lounge, screenings and the entire Forum with your badge. You may also upgrade your badge for access to parties, opening & closing night.

AIRPORT INFO

  • Palm Springs International Airport (PSP): Located centrally in PS, this is the ideal airport to fly into, although the airport is small and therefore flights are limited and can be more expensive.
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX): Located about 120 miles west of Palm Springs, a large airport with many flight options.
  • Ontario International Airport (ONT): Located about 70 miles west of Palm Springs, flight availability can be slightly less than LAX but flights can be cheaper.

TRAVELING TO/FROM AIRPORTS

  • LOS ANGELES (LAX) to PALM SPRINGS (PSP): The best way to travel from Los Angeles to Palm Springs is by car (about 2 hours without traffic). The bus and train are inconsistent during summer months and neither will bring you directly into downtown Palm Springs; you would still need to pay for a cab from the bus/train stop to your hotel.
  • ONTARIO (ONT)to PALM SPRINGS (PSP): Ontario, California (Not be be confused with Ontario, Canada) airport is slightly closer to Palm Springs than LAX (about 1 hour drive without traffic) and sometimes flights into Ontario can be cheaper.  The best way to travel from Ontario to Palm Springs is also by car.
  • For travel from either LAX or Ontario Airport, consider a one-way car rental and drive to Palm Springs. Many hotels have their own shuttles service available; inquire when you make your hotel reservation if they will be able to meet you when you drop off your rental in Palm Springs.
