"ShortFest is one of the most amazing film events on our planet, where you witness the future of cinema and the birth of new, great filmmakers.  The Palm Springs International ShortFest film market also opens new horizons for filmmakers, who are given opportunities to create more movies," said Bijan Tehrani, Editor in Chief of Cinema Without Borders.  He added, "Hundreds of young filmmakers get together every year at this event to celebrate cinema.  It is a great pleasure to announce Palm Springs International ShortFest as the winner of the Cinema Without Borders 'Seal of Excellence.' "

Festival Director Darryl Macdonald expressed his delight at the event being singled out for this prestigious honor stating, "Our goal as a Festival has always been to break down barriers -- between audiences and the filmmakers who make their films to share with them, between international cinemas and the American film going audience, and between aspiring young filmmakers and the professional resources available to them.  It's an honor to be singled out in this way by a pulication that shares so many of those same goals."
