On the morning of 9/11/01, 658 employees of financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald went to work on the top five floors of the World Trade Center. None came home alive. But while Cantor suffered the largest loss of life of any organization that day, amazingly, its story has never been told – until now.

Due to a twist of fate, Cantor CEO Howard Lutnick was not at work that morning and survived. In the midst of his personal and professional devastation, Lutnick (whose brother was one of the employees killed) took on the immense twin burdens of trying to save the company and provide support for the thousands of surviving family members. The twists and turns of that story would see Lutnick as both hero and villain.

Uniquely, this film combines both the intimacy and access of a home movie with the keen perspective of the seasoned documentary filmmaker. According to filmmaker Danielle Gardner, whose connection to the events is made clear at film’s end, “This film is a journey into what happens when you wake up one day and find yourself at ground zero of Ground Zero.”
