Following up on her impressive work in After the Wedding, actress Stine Fischer Christensen gives another compelling performance as Josephine (“Fine”), a naïve but determined drama student in Christian Schowchow’s accomplished second feature. Fine often arrives late to class because she is caring for her mentally handicapped sister. Freshly chastised for being “invisible” by her drama teacher, no one could be more surprised than Fine when Machiavellian theatre director Kaspar chooses her as the lead in his new play—over her best friend who was the shoe-in. Fine must now rise to the daunting challenge of portraying a character, Camille, who is sexually hyperactive and self-destructive. Armed with a blonde wig, she hits the streets and incites the interest of a kind and attractive tunnel builder. A tangled web of trust ensues between Fine and her increasingly demanding director, leading her down dangerous paths as she struggles to embody Camille’s behavior, navigate a burgeoning romance, and live up to her daunting responsibilities at home.
