Three folktales depicted in the form of lively traditional songs and set in superb locations in India, Mali and Ladakh, show that a universal foundation exists beneath apparent diversities of culture. In the first yarn, Sahir and his son collect plastic waste daily in the streets of an old Indian town. Unlike others, Sahir never judges events around him, but when a drama occurs his wisdom is revealed to all.

The middle tale is set against the magnificent backdrop of Djenne, Mali, where Bouba, a Koranic scholar. is asked: “What is the greatest part of all knowledge?” After days of searching, Bouba still does not have the correct answer, which turns out to be simple and overwhelming at the same time. The final story follows a widower, Sonam, and his daughter as they wend their way to town through the Himalayas in order to sell their dzo (a cross between a cow and a yak). Everyone on the journey offers both criticism and advice on how to travel and how to treat the dzo. Sonam tries to please everyone but when his daughter confronts him, he finally changes course.
