This surprisingly prescient and dialogue-free film tells the story of Mohammed (Vincent Gallo), a Taliban fighter captured, interrogated, tortured and then transported to a secret detention center in Europe. Taking advantage of a car accident, he escapes and must use his wits to evade his pursuers while battling bitter winter cold and lack of food on a completely unfamiliar continent. Relentlessly pursued by an army that does not officially exist, Mohammed confronts the necessity to kill in order to survive.

Whether the protagonist is or is not a terrorist is a question the film does not explore. For the director, his film is about a struggle for survival, neither political nor apolitical, taking no sides. "It will satisfy me most,” Skolimowski says, “if anyone watching this film will feel, for a mere 83 minutes, free of any preordained judgments and will get involved in the primal journey together with the main character. This is a movie about man as part of nature at its most desperate. Matters have been reduced to brute basics. If survival is essential, one might have no choice but to kill." Winner, Best Actor, Special Jury Prize and Youth Jury Prize, Venice Film Festival.
