Leslie Iwerks’ Recycled Life (38 min.) illuminates the lives of the families who inhabit the Guatemala City garbage dump. In Rehearsing a Dream (40 min.), director Karen Goodman follows a group of gifted teenage artists who spend a week with well-known mentors. A man struggles with addiction and mental illness in director Marilyn Braverman’s A Revolving Door (50 min.).

Program Note: Director Nathaniel Kahn’s short-listed documentary Two Hands (18 min.) features pianist Leon Fleisher, who, at the height of his career lost the ability to play with his right hand. It will be screened with the documentary feature When Pigs Fly. (Friday, January 5, 4:45 pm and Sunday, January 7, 10:15am)
