Albert Serra’s Quixotic is a remarkable debut feature based on Cervantes’s classic. It’s less an adaptation of Don Quixote than a riff on its two principal characters. Serra provocatively chose to shoot the footage in a way that seemingly gives the perception that this could be a kind of Quixote home movie.
