120 Minute Running Time
Program: Talking Pictures

Actor, writer, director, producer and star of stage, screen and television, Alan Cumming is one of the most versatile talents of our time. Blessed with a capacity to flawlessly change his voice and his appearance for each role, Cumming has led an equally diverse career, going from the London stage to Broadway to Hollywood to television and back again, tracing an incandescent series of performances playing characters as diverse as Hamlet, Boris Grishenko (the computer geek-turned-evil co-conspirator in Bond thriller GoldenEye), the jaded master of ceremonies in the London and Broadway revivals of Cabaret, and the recurring character of the brusque campaign manager, Eli Gold, in T.V.’s The Good Wife, to name but a few.

In one of his finest performances in a career studded with award-winning roles and memorable characterizations, Cumming this year created an utterly indelible impression in the role of Any Day Now’s Rudy Donatello, “a drag queen on the mime-track to nowhere, whose outrageous exterior hides a lonely but loveable soul.” His brilliant performance lies at the heart of this immensely likeable movie, a major reason why the film has won the Audience Award at so many major festivals this summer and fall.

Join Screen International’s Jeremy Kay for a screening of Any Day Now, followed by what promises to be an engaging and wide ranging conversation with one of our most acclaimed, intelligent and entertaining contemporary talents, Alan Cumming.
