Brilliant performances from Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose) and rising star Matthias Schoenaerts (Bullhead) propel this powerhouse melodrama from the writer-director team Thomas Bidegain and Jacques Audiard (A Prophet).

Alain (Schoenaerts) arrives in Antibes in the South of France with his young son and enough muscle to get a job as a nightclub bouncer. That’s where he meets Stephanie (Cotillard), shortly before she loses both her job and her legs in a tragic and horrifying workplace incident. Months later, at her lowest ebb, out of the blue, she call him and he responds. These two bruised souls connect and somehow they bring the best out of each other – not that their path is an easy or an obvious one…

Based on short stories by the Canadian author Craig Davidson, Rust and Bone is an intensely physical and surprisingly erotic love story about the body and the mind, pain and perseverance. You will be moved.
