PSIFS POLICIES

The following terms and conditions apply to both the Palm Springs International Film Society (PSIFS) year-round programming as well as the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) and ShortFest (PSSF). These PSIFS Policies also apply to all Palm Springs International Film Society activities at external locations. Bearing a ticket or pass to Palm Springs International Film Festival or ShortFest signifies agreement to all terms and conditions. By accepting possession or by using a ticket, Passholder and/or Ticket holder is legally bound to comply with these Terms, and the original authorized purchaser and any Authorized Recipient agree to inform all of their respective guests of these Terms with due diligence. PSIFS reserves the right, at its discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of these Terms at any time. For questions regarding PSIFS policies, please email feedback@psfilmfest.org

CODE OF CONDUCT

PSIFS strives for a world in which enlightenment, knowledge, and tolerance prevail. We believe film as an art form has the power to bridge cultures and illuminate the universality of the human experience. The Palm Springs International Film Society enthusiastically pursues its artistic and public service goals; to enrich, educate, entertain, initiate cultural dialogue, and celebrate cinematic excellence in any language. Our principles objectives encompass promoting the film to an ever-widening audience as a powerful medium that inspires creativity, encourages introspection, and compels exploration. The Society aims to have a leadership role in providing an extensive forum for multicultural exchange in the Coachella Valley and beyond.

To that end, all attendees, staff, filmmakers, guests, sponsors, and volunteers at all PSIFS events and screenings are required to comply with the following policy leading up to and throughout the entire event. There is a zero-tolerance policy for violations of this policy. Anyone not complying with this policy will have their pass/tickets confiscated immediately without a refund at the sole discretion of PSIFF Staff. PSIFF also reserves the right to ban the violator from future events. In addition, PSIFS reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. This policy exists to ensure a safe environment for all PSIFF participants and attendees.

HARASSMENT POLICY

PSIFS is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for EVERYONE, regardless of gender, gender identity & expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, or religion. This applies to all interactions between participants & attendees. PSIFS will absolutely not tolerate harassment in any form.

Harassment includes but is not limited to offensive comments related to gender, gender identity & expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of programs, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Those asked to stop harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If they do not, PSIFF reserves the right to remove them from the premises and bar them from future events without a refund. Harassment claims will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of PSIFF management.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of staff IMMEDIATELY. If you do not see a staff member, please contact Managing Director, Rhea Lewis-Woodson at rhea@psfilmfest.org

PSIFS staff members may help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement and otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the festival. We value your attendance, and we want everyone to enjoy all that PSIFF has to offer.

For questions regarding PSIFS's inclusion and harassment policy, please email feedback@psfilmfest.org

ACCESSIBILITY

PSIFF strives to be an accessible event and is working to ensure all patrons can access our year-round and festival programming. We welcome and encourage all feedback and suggestions in our efforts to provide reasonable accommodation. For any accessibility-related questions, comments, or concerns, please emails us at   feedback@psfilmfest.org

Wheelchair Accessibility
All venue locations are wheelchair accessible.  Wheelchair and handicapped seating is limited based on theater capacity and will be accommodated on a first come-first serve basis.  PSIFS will make every effort to accommodate those with wheelchairs. For questions regarding accessibility please email feedback@psfilmfest.org.

Assistive Devices
Assisted Listening Devices are available at most festival locations, excluding the Palm Canyon Theater and Palm Springs High School. Check-in with the box office or Festival Venue Managers to locate the devices. For questions regarding assisted listening, please email feedback@psfilmfest.org.

Service Animals

Persons with disabilities and their service animals that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for those persons with disabilities are welcome at PSIFS Festival locations. Pets are not allowed and will be turned away. Any service animal whose task is to provide protection, emotional support, well-being, comfort, or companionship will not be allowed into the PSIFF venues.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for title II and title III

Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person's disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.

All service animals must remain by the handler's side at all times and must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless these devices interfere with the service animal's work or the individual's disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.

Service animals must be housebroken. Anyone bringing an animal will be responsible for and liable for any damage or injury caused by the animal. PSIFS reserves the right to ask service animals to leave if they become disruptive.

PSIFS abides by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Please email feedback@psfilmfest.org  for questions.

Ticket holders must arrive 30 min. before showtime and be in their seats 15 min. before showtime to be guaranteed a seat.
15 minutes before the screening, PSIFS will sell empty seats to the standby line, if available. Ticket holders arriving less than 15 minutes before a screening are not guaranteed a seat. All sales are final - No refunds or exchanges will be given to ticket holders turned away after this time.

Passholders and Reservations
Currently, reservations are not needed to use a pass for our screenings. In case a reservation policy was to take effect the following steps would be needed by a Passholder:

  • An advance reservation guarantees a seat in the theater up to 20 minutes in advance of a screening
  • Passes that bypass the reservation system or do not require reservations must be seated 15 minutes before a screening (seat not guaranteed after this time)
  • Once seating has begun, passholders will continue to have priority seating in theaters before ticket holders
  • Your reservation will be associated with your pass, which will be scanned for entry.  An additional ticket will not be required

Empty seats are counted 15 minutes before show time and released to waiting for pass holders first, and then to the standby ticket line. All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges will be given to pass holders

Standby Process
When advance tickets are no longer available, a limited number of standby tickets may become available at the door. Patrons can join the standby line for a chance to purchase these additional tickets. Standby tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on available seats. Standby may or may not be sold for some PSIFS programs.

Tickets and/or passes must be scanned for entry to PSIFS. Patrons not willing to have their ticket or pass scanned will be refused entry to the screening.

Entry Privileges are dependent on the program - refer to your ticket or pass for more information. Entry timeline administration will be at the discretion of the Cinema or Venue Manager

Late Seating
Late seating is not permitted.
PSIFF will not sell tickets or seats once the program has begun. Any exception to the late seating policy is at the discretion of the Cinema or Festival Venue Manager.

During ShortFest: Late seating will be allowed between the screening of shorts.
